Ripping a DVD and making it fit for uploading to ExtremeBits.org requires only one program, wich it totally free, and the rip is done in two steps:
1. Rip movie with Auto Gordian Knot
2. Write some info about the movie!
1. Rip the movie using Auto Gordian Knot
1. Okay! Download and install the latest version of Auto Gordian Knot. Use standard settings when installing. Start AutoGK. Insert the DVD you wish to rip, and select your input file. This is usually an "IFO"-file, that can be located in the "VIDEO_TS" folder on your DVD disc. As you see in the picture, mine was called "VTS_01_0.IFO". You know when you have selected the correct ifo-file when you see the correct movie length in the Video Info bar, under output file.
2. Select your output file. Your output file is what the final movie file will be called, and where it will be stored. The movie should be named in the fashion as you see in the picture; Movie.Name.2007.DVDRip.XviD.avi. Do not use any spaces or apostrophes (', ?, `), or any other random characters in the file name.
3. Select audio track. There is usually only one, so just select that one.
4. Select output size. Select "Predefined size", and choose 1CD 700MB.
5. Press "Advanced Settings" and set "Output audio type" to "VBR MP3, kbps", and put 320 in the box. Dont change anything else here, just press OK.
6. Now press "Add Job", and then "Start". If this is the first time you are ripping a movie with AutoGK, you will have to press "Accept terms" when VirtualDubMod starts after about 1 min. After that you can just let it do its thing.
7. Done! AutoGK will now start ripping and encoding your movie in two passes. The total time of this process is about twice as long as the movie lasts. So if your movie is 50mins long, it will take about two hours to complete the rip/encode. It is not recommended you use your computer for anything else while you are encoding (even if you can), go out and do something fun!
